Originally a Famous Players theatre, the Paramount opened for business on December 27th 1948. The first movie shown was "The Paleface"starring Bob Hope. Since then, the Paramount Theatre has seen many changes and has had many different uses. Despite this, the structure both inside and out remains remarkably similar to the day it was built.

In 1994, the Paramount was listed as having two theatres, seating over 850 in total. Today, the lower level is home to Wiggles 'N Giggles, a fun filled children's activity centre. The upper level, which was originally a balcony overseeing the main screen, is now an intimate theatre, seating 254.

In 2008, a stage was constructed in front of the movie screen, spanning the full width of the theatre over 50 feet wide and 20 feet deep. More work has been completed on upgrading the lights and sound equipment. A long term plan is in place to continue renovations on the lobby, concession and exterior facade with a goal of completion by the fall of 2010.

Paramount Theatre wishes to be a thriving centre for the performing arts and film. We intend to continue to provide the friendly accommodating services that our guests have become accustomed to and hope to expand our existing clientele in order to provide superior entertainment to the region.
